Installing the maildir module

This module is based on the c-client code distributed with Pine 3.96.
It may or may not work with earlier or later versions of the c-client
library. It will not work with the c-client library distributed with
IMAP4, since the interface has been changed.

1. Download and extract the pine package (available from
    ftp://ftp.cac.washington.edu/pine/pine.tar.Z) and the maildir
    module package.

2. Copy maildir.c and maildir.h from the maildir module directory
    into the pine/imap/ANSI/c-client/ directory.

3. Edit pine/imap/ANSI/c-client/Makefile. You need to modify the following
three things to this file (or copy Makefile.ex included with this package
    over the existing Makefile).

    a. To the BINARIES line in the Makefile, "maildir.o" must be added.
It does not matter where it appears in the list.

    b. On the line DEFAULTDRIVERS, add maildir before any other drivers.

    c. In the Dependencies section, add the following line:

		maildir.o: mail.h maildir.h misc.h osdep.h rfc822.h

4. Verify that imapd does not contain the known buffer overrun. (See
imapd-hole.txt advisory included in the module package.)
The pine 3.96 distribution appears to be vulnerable.

5. Build the library and any programs which depend on it. See the
build shell script in the pine/ directory for instructions on doing
    this.

After all programs are recompiled, ~/Maildir is used as the default incoming
mailbox if it exists. This module is still in early testing stages, so
please make a backup of your email before using. If you find any bugs or
have suggestions, please mail them to thrytis@imaxx.net.
